Herpes transmission HomeThis is a featured page

Herpes is caused by the HSV-1 and HSV-2 pathogen. The first commonly results into cold sores or oral herpes the second is the common cause for genital herpes. Herpes transmission occurs mainly thru direct contact with sores the disease causes or through sexual intercourse with an infected person.

The pathogen sometimes accesses the body through broken skin or mucous surface like those found in the mouth and nads. The pathogen is carried by body liquids like spit, semen, vaginal discharges and the liquids that come out of the blisters which herpes develops. It is then carried into the nerve cells where it is still latent for some time.

During this latent period the probabilities of herpes transmission is less. Viral losing takes place when the pathogen "sheds" the cell in which it is propagating itself. During losing, the symptoms of herpes might not be plain but a person may still get infected through the exchange of body liquids with somebody suffering from the illness. Professionals confirm that a majority of herpes transmissions occur during this time since the person troubled isn't aware she has contracted the disease.

There are also cases in which the person with herpes is asymptomatic meaning the symptoms of herpes the person suffers is so mild so that he does not recognize that does not recognize that he is infected. As mentioned earlier, though the sores won't be present the pathogen may still be broadcast thru the body liquids due to viral shedding.

A newly born child's immune system is not that developed and he may may contract the disease as she passes through the birth canal of the ma and has contact with the herpes sores present in her reproductive organs. Doctors regularly conduct tests on the pregnant ma to guarantee that she has not contracted the illness.

Now that we know how herpes transmission occurs, we will be able to take measures to avoid infection. The minor cares we take will save us a lot of grief that will come with contracting a disease which has not got a cure.

No treatment is meant. As with any condition it is best to consult a health professional before taking any medical advice.
